BENEFITS TO VINYL FLOORING
Unlike lino flooring of decades past which quickly fell out of favour – there are a number of reasons why vinyl flooring is popular. This is because:
- A vinyl floor is strong and durable
Thanks to the added wear and tear layer on the top, vinyl should stand up to even heavy traffic for years to come.
- It’s easy to keep clean
Needing only a regular brush or vacuum and mop to keep it looking its best.
- Even ‘cheap’ vinyl flooring is a good option
Other flooring types can be incredibly expensive, vinyl flooring, however, remains a cost-effective flooring solution.
- It’s ideal for wet areas
Unlike lino flooring, carpet, or wooden floors, vinyl flooring won’t be damaged by splashes from baths, cooking pots, or full sinks of dishes.
- Vinyl flooring features many different designs and colours
So you can choose a flooring type that suits your space perfectly or mix colour vinyl flooring for an added wow factor.
- It can be incredibly comfortable
With options like cushioned vinyl flooring and luxury vinyl flooring for similar prices, if you want to boost the cosiness of walking barefoot, you can – without compromising on the other benefits.
A low-maintenance solution
When compared to other flooring options, vinyl is one of the most family-friendly solutions. Not only is vinyl durable, but it is also very low-maintenance and easy to clean. So, you won’t have to worry about drinks being spilt or food being dropped on your new vinyl floors.
As such, it’s easy to see why a vinyl floor covering is now the first choice for lots of homeowners across the country.
A truly unique floor
Vinyl flooring is everything you want the floors in your home to be and when your new vinyl is installed by our experts, it will look amazing for many years to come, even with everyday use.
This is thanks in part to the vast range of choices you have to consider, including:

Frequently Asked Questions
Is vinyl flooring expensive?
One of the many reasons why people opt for vinyl flooring is because of how affordable it is.
However, the price you’ll pay depends on several different factors, including the quality of the vinyl, the size of the room, and labour costs.
Sheet vinyl is much cheaper than LVT (luxury vinyl tile), and the more square footage to cover, the bigger your bill will be. And, of course, different tradespeople have different rates, with some charging by the hour and others charging by the day, so it could be more or less expensive depending on who lays your flooring for you.
Here at LJV, we stock a huge selection of the highest-quality vinyl flooring options and our in-house installation team would be more than happy to lay your new floors for you!

Do I need an underlay for vinyl flooring?
Nine times out of ten, there’s no need to install underlay with vinyl flooring.
This is because vinyl comes with a built-in layer of cushioning for extra comfort and protection.
However, if the subfloor you’re laying vinyl flooring on top of is rough and uneven, installing an underlay beforehand will ensure a smooth, comfortable finish and ensure your new flooring will last for many years to come.

How long does vinyl flooring last?
When taken good care of, vinyl flooring can last for up to 20 years!
The exact lifespan of your vinyl flooring, though, depends on a couple of different factors, including:
- The quality of the vinyl you choose – of course, higher-quality, well-manufactured vinyl will last much longer than its lower-quality counterparts.
- The quality of installation – professionally installed vinyl flooring will last longer than vinyl that isn’t.
- How well you maintain it – maintenance plays a big part in the life expectancy of your flooring and keeping up with cleaning will really help you get the most out of vinyl.
Whenever you shop vinyl flooring at LJV, you can be confident that you’re getting only the highest quality vinyl flooring.
What’s more, all of our flooring comes with a warranty, so if you aren’t happy with the quality of your vinyl or have any problems, we’ll be happy to replace it or offer you a refund.

Can you repair vinyl flooring?
Depending on the extent of the damage, it can be possible to complete flooring repairs – either yourself or with the help of a professional.
If your vinyl flooring damage has minor rips or tears with smooth edges, you can likely do it yourself with a vinyl floor adhesive and a putty knife.
If the damage has jagged edges or is in a very noticeable area, you may need to cut out the damaged section and use another piece of vinyl to fill in the gap.
If you aren’t confident or the damage is extensive, you might also need to consider calling in a professional – who will be able to advise if a repair is possible or if it needs to be replaced.
